It has a fascinating history going back to indigenous times. In more recent years it’s been an internment camp [for both wars] and a military installation.
In the not too distant past people on Rottnest Island used to communicate with those on the mainland via semaphore. Not too many iPones around in those days!

About half a million people travel to Rotto every year. Its popularity continues and now that Leavers have chosen the island as a site for their November celebrations, it’s become even more of a tourist hotspot. The beauty for teens in November is that there are so many accommodation options on the Island. There are hotels and lodges, the former Governor’s estate and even terrific camping grounds.
The natural attractions are a major draw card. The beaches are fantastic and boating activities are happening along many parts of the coast. The native flora and fauna are interesting if not fascinating and the walks all over the island are a great daytime activity.

School Leavers aged 16 to 18 who are completing year 12 on the year of travel may attend. If you have left school early (eg Year 10) for work or TAFE and you are in this age group then you may also attend. If you are closely connected with the Leavers group (eg) sibling, boyfriend, girlfriend, and you are of similar age, then you may also book with the group. The Leavers accommodation and activities are accessible to all Leavers 18+ as well as under 18.

Yes. We understand that you want Freedom during Leavers. You have the Freedom to explore the beautiful Rottnest area and experience the local culture. You can go shopping, do tours and activities as you wish.
The group will get their room allocation, however we don’t select the guest’s configurations within their own group, they can decide amongst themselves on arrival.
Definitely not. With Sure Thing Schoolies there are no age restrictions imposed on your group. If all Schoolies are 17, then you have absolute freedom to book and stay at the Rottnest Lodge. Some venues impose restrictions by requiring at least one member of the group to be 18 or request for a parent to stay but with Sure Thing Schoolies you have absolute freedom.
Enjoy the amazing food available at Rottnest. The food includes all the normal stuff you would expect such as Pizza, Chicken, Steak, Pasta, Fish and Chips, Wedges, Seafood, Burgers and Fresh Fruit. Plus there is daily breakfast included as part of the booking.
Check in starts from 2 pm onwards. If you get there before 2 pm you may be able to leave your bags at reception whilst you explore the area. There may be many people checking in at once, so keep in mind that you may not be able to check in at exactly 2 pm. The whole group should check in together all at once. As for Checkout, you must vacate your room completely by no later than 10 am on the day of departure.
